J’aime.
Yup! I do.
A flame of mine wrote the following piece:
“I love to wake up in the morning with a smile in my heart and breathe in deeply to welcome the fullness of the day into me. I love the minty taste of the toothpaste and the careful massage the toothbrush gives my teeth. I love the shower; the feel of freshness the water brings to my soul. I love the privacy I get in the rest room while I do my thing; especially the relief of letting go the things of yesterday from my system- you know now! I love the rush of warmth I feel putting on my clothes and the springy feel I get with my shoes on. I love the welcome of the morning sun accompanied by the freshness of the wind on my face as I open the door to step out of my room. I love the fact that I can walk a few meters on my feet to the bus stop where I can get a bus to my office. I love the smell of early morning akara and also the aroma from a bakery nearby. I love the dewdrops I see on some nearby grass. I love its greenery also. I love the sound of “good morning” and its response whether from me or someone at a distance. I love to watch buildings from the commuter bus as I head for the office. I love the look of my office that kind of says “welcome partner, we missed your company. Now lets get creative”. I just love today for its quite unique and different from every other day. Most of all I love myself.”

This has inspired me to take note of the things I love:
I love words, the way they dress up and attend the premiere of the drama that is our life, I love good food and the loving effort that goes into making even the simplest of fares special. I love water (would live in it if i could), the cold caressing touch of a mouthful of transparent brilliance.
I love time and space and how they tease and intrigue, holding and freeing us to be what and who we please. I love faces (my unspoken fetish); can’t get over the lines and creases, hills, corners, often wondering how such little space can hold so much gist. I love laughter and nuance, i love the darkness before dawn when everything paces itself for the brightness ahead.
I love thunderstorms. One of my earliest memories is the sound of water lashing down to the applause of thunder and the smile of lightning. I love the name that only my mother calls me, the name that reminds me of what a lucky man my dad was.
I love friendship; the art of seeing it through for both of u. I love the fact that there are things to be achieved and that we require help to achieve them. I love the guitar, and the many sounds she makes when I use my fingers. I love to write; it’s like giving birth. I can literally feel my insides move when the little one arrives. I love people; family, strangers, former friends, enemies.
I love Jesus Christ; He gave me life.
